March 11, goodness already double digits in March. Well this month I will get to wear all
my sweaters, I'v going to Chicago later this month. Business and family. My sister tells
me gleefully that their high today will hit 40 yipes!. I know a couple of you are interested
in photographs, go to flickr.com and search my name. I uploaded some more DV pictures
there.
we have new colors in hempathy, Inga knit this for her granddaughter.
If you haven't seen the Brown Sheep yarn, come in and look and feel. We had practical
reasons for moving to it but I really like it. We ordered enameled jewelry and it is slowly
arriving. One of our companies screwed up an order, but on Sunday the ladies decided on a
sweater class out of the book so we sold a lot of copies. Serendipitous. (I don't get to use
tat word too often.) We will have an ad in the Press Enterprise, it will be good for a 15%
discount. look for it.
EB 14, Happy Valentine's Day. You are all my Valentines, so happy to you. I just returned
from a photo field trip in Death Valley. I had a wonderful time and saw some amazing
sights and even took a few good pictures. Click on DEATH VALLEY if you want to see
some.
Most of the Mountain Colors order has arrived. We ordered sock yarn (of course) and
Weavers Quarters, enough to make sweaters. Come and see. Our Brown Sheep order is in
but you can't see it until Saturday, unless you come to the reservations-only reception this
Friday evening. Discounts and door prizes.
We have received our organic cotton and pattern books. There is one simple sweater that
would be a great 1st project. We have a bamboo/linen yarn on its way. There is always
something going on. Now Brenda and Sandra are making Easter eggs - remember the
Christmas ornaments? well, they are at it again!
Jan 16 08, there is a lot going on. Sandra and I just returned from Market. We only went for
one day and did what Brenda called "gorrilla shopping" It was tough. We had a list and not
much free time. We had decided to drop Cascade 220 (it will still be available via special
order but you'll have to take the bag of 10 ). We picked up Brown Sheep and I hope you will
be pleased with our choice. We ordered every single color of Nature Spun in the Worsted
weight. Those same colors come in sport and fingering weights. Special orders will be
even easier with Brown Sheep. So that was the big one.
We ordered more colors of yarns we already carry. Since Mission Falls has come out with
new colors, we ordered those as well as their new pattern book. There are yummy
garments in there. We also ordered more colors from Mountain Colors. They have a unique
collaboration with Lorna's Laces, they worked up a pattern that uses both yarns. We will
have only 2 kits and we will be happy to special order kits. But they are only available for
4 months.
THE BROWN SHEEP RECEPTION, is Friday, February 15 in the evening, from 6-8. The
reception is reservations only. $10. There will be wine and cheese, special discounts, door
prizes and of course, lots of fun.
Jan 3 2008 Connie and I survived the trip. There was some yelling but we are friends
again. I took one photo, I'll try to get it on the web site soon.
December 28 Connie and I are off Sunday to test the camper. More later.
November 26? when I have time off,l I forget the days and dates. I do know this is Monday
because it is the final of Dancing with the Stars. If you're interested in my photographs,
click on the highlighted link below. If not, that's ok too. We are having our pre-inventory
sale pre-Christmas. There are great bargains. The back wall is still 30% off and we are
having daily specials. Every day the special changes. So you have to come in.
kathy's trip to Lone Pine
November 23: T'day is over, I am stuffed wiht potatoes and cheescake and turkey and all
that good stuff. Our sale is still on, come in and enjoy the discounts. Plan for our holiday
party by filling out the 'wish list' so your significant honey can get you exactly what you
want.
August 23: new yarn arrived yesterday. I'd forgotten we ordered it. Very nice. It is called
Tweed Lux, made of wool, silk, cashmere. I like the way it feels. I knit the sample and it
was very nice. We have green, oatmeal, cinnamon, coco. If you are interested in green,
you had better get it before Brenda sees it.
August 10: I have been remiss in updating this. My apologies, a rash of sinus headaches
slowed me down. I haven't done much knitting, though I did begin a hooded jacket for
Jordan. I haven't finished my second DESIGN YOUR OWN sweater, but I work on it at
home. Sandra and Brenda have had more fun with the dressy bags they are making.
Sandra knits them and Brenda beads them. If there is more interest we can hold another
class. Don't forget the cotton sale lasts until Sept 2
Jordan's first birthday
June 10, my "lisa" sweater is done. I need to remember to count stitches. Wow, math,
who knew? And I've already begun my second sweater. whoooo I think I know how to do
a coupon, so here it is: COUPON
May 25, I am continually surprised by the passage of time. It's been two months since I
updated this page. How ever did that happen? Everyone wants to know what's new? Well,
we received several: Urban Silk, a mix of silk (80%) and cotton, so soft and wonderful.
Also Limbo, machine washable, wool, and self striping. We only got one color way (there
were two) and this is perfect with jeans. You could make that self striping vest or a
wonderful casual sweater. Also machine washable is Schulana, a mix of cotton and wool.
It is soft but firm and I expect it will knit up beautifully.
Big news, June 9 is National Knitting Day and there will be knitters at the Plaza, in front of
the theaters. Grab your knitting and hang out there for a while 9am-noon. Closeknit will
have a present for you if you do.
I took Lisa's Design YOur Own Sweater class, and while my marathon knitting spree got
me close to being done (sleeves are attached and I am decreasing for neck) I have also
begun the gauge on my next sweater. Totally cool. This is out of Jacqueline Fee's book,
perhaps we will have the sweater sampler as a class in June-July.
We have more colors in Cotton Classic. Sue made her (Design y o s) out of it and has
washed it in the machine and it's still lovely. Cotton, machine washable, Riverside, wow,
what a great mix. Come in and see what's new, sign up for classes and have fun this
summer.
March 13, Mountain Colors is on its way and we just received Ozark Hand spun, you have
to see this stuff - big fluffy and colorful.
Feb 27, I am busy so have not updated the web site for a while. Mountain Colors should be
here by the end of March. Very exciting. We've received some of our Cotton Classic order,
the colors are wonderful. I reallly like the Addi Natura needles.
Jan 17. Sandra and I survived Market. The first day we walked the whole thing, the second
day we bought and the third day we looked and bought a little more. The big news seems
to be the new Addi Turbo Lace needles. They are not available until March or April. Yes
we ordered them. Instead of a slick silver needle, it is bronze-colored, with a longer point
and sharper needle. Wonderful. Skacel had 4 in the booth for people to see and knit with,
they were not letting them go. SO and I tried begging but it didn't work. We also bought
the Addi Natura needles - their bamboo needles with the Addi join and cord. I think you will
like them.
We bought Cotton Classic - worsted gauge, shiny, mercerized, many colors. I think
everyone will like it. In a sense it's the cotton version of Cascade 220 - many colors. The
other big buy is Mountain Colors - hooray!. We have some new yarns from Cascade
coming, and a cotton/silk from Skacel.
Besides buttons and patterns, we also bought hairpin lace making supplies and patterns
and we found my magic crochet needles! A very good trip. I hope you like what we bought.
Most is scheduled to come in after the sale ends.
J
